ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce has approved Rs10 billion in funding for the textile, apparel and other export-oriented sectors under duty drawback and technology upgradation schemes, in a move aimed at improving industrial liquidity and boosting exports.
Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan announced the decision, saying the approved funds would help ease financial pressures on industries and enable exporters to expand their presence in international markets.
The minister said the Ministry of Commerce had sanctioned Rs10,000 million for textiles, apparel and other export sectors under the two schemes. He expressed hope that the funding would improve liquidity across the industrial sector and support higher export volumes.
The financial support is expected to provide exporters with additional working capital while encouraging businesses to invest in modern machinery, production systems and other technological improvements.
The technology upgradation scheme is intended to help industries improve production efficiency and product quality, allowing Pakistani exporters to compete more effectively in international markets.
Meanwhile, support through the duty drawback scheme is expected to help export-oriented businesses manage costs and strengthen their financial position.
The textile and apparel industry remains a key component of Pakistan’s export economy, making government measures to improve competitiveness and production capacity particularly significant.
Officials and industry stakeholders expect the funding initiative to contribute to stronger export performance by improving access to liquidity and encouraging technological investment.
